Development Pitch
Scientific intrigue, a shadowy Russian influence, action, and romance-all woven together in a young woman's path to believe in herself. Toppled from her anchor chair by a scandal, Liberty Blaine survives by writing freelance articles for science magazines. On a flight to a solar energy symposium featuring the brightest new scholars, she’s seated next to the man burned by the scandal—her former childhood best buddy-who is now a Hollywood heartthrob. Their LA to Texas flight is hijacked to Mexico, where Liberty and Spiro escape, only to return and find the plane with the kidnapped scientists has departed without them. Burying their differences, they conspire to reach the original destination and are horrified to learn that designing destructive malware to control America’s energy production was the real purpose the billionaire brought them all together--that and his plan for revenge against Liberty. Determining if the sexy Latino assistant/girlfriend of their host is friend or foe provides twists and challenges. While battling wits against the solar power zealot, Spiro has to chose between betraying Liberty and saving his sister. Liberty sacrifices herself/finagles a way out and they return to CA to go their separate ways-or so they think . Along the way they've experience and finally acknowledged the validity of the teenage attraction which had emerged a decade ago, just prior to their estrangement. Realization of core goals and their love ends the story with their wedding.
