Mole, Rat, Badger and Toad, characters from The Wind in The Willows, join with their former enemies to rescue the Wildwood from developers. Much of the story includes Toad's adventures on a narrowboat on a canal, as well as Badger's attempt to stage a public demonstration against the development. It is Toad who comes to the rescue with a rather devious trick.

Short Summary

Toad is placed by the Court to be supervised by Badger who makes him cabin boy on his narrowboat. They are joined on a cruise by Mole and Rat, Their cruise is interrupted when Badger is called back to lead a protest against a development in the Wildwood. Strangely, it is Toad who saves the day.

Victorious over the developers, the animals have a party in Toad Hall. The date is Dec 5th, Faunalia. The background presence of the animal god, Pan, is hinted at. After a hilarious celebration, Badger resumes his cruise, and the homes of the other animals are safe.
