Short Summary

A couple are forced to uproot their lives in Boston when the husband loses his job as a lawyer. After much searching, he buys a former practice in a small Vermont town. The house they buy in the town is revealed to have a disturbing history; a history that threatens to repeat itself.

Karen, the main character and matriarch of the family, must rescue her children from the evil spirit in the house. She digs them out of its floors, gets them to safety, and burns the house down in an attempt to purge the evil from the town of Blackwater.
