    Brief

Set in the medieval period of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, Camelot’s Queen is told through a new perspective –the much maligned matriarch of Camelot, Queen Guinevere. The traditional aspects of the story are contorted as Guinevere is presented as a gifted priestess with rare magical abilities, and a brilliant war strategist.

    What We Liked

    - Strong female lead, Guinevere is passionate and resilient
    - Fresh angle on a familiar story, including the love triangle between Guinevere, Arthur, and Lancelot
    - Explores war, sorcery, vengeance, political intrigue, treason, and conflicting religious sects
    - As a trilogy, plenty of material for adaptation/further installments.

    Synopsis

Guinevere is a young woman in medieval England, widely regarded as a powerful and brilliant priestess with impressive magic abilities. She is married to King Arthur, bestowing upon her the title of High Queen of Britain. It is not a marriage of love, but one of opportunity, designed to strengthen the Kingdom. The marriage comes with a cost - she must forsake her love, Sir Lancelot, her husband’s most trusted knight.
Upon commencement of her rule alongside King Arthur, they are battle-tested by a deadly Saxon army invasion. Guinevere must use her magic against the overpowering invaders. With little time to prepare, she devises a plan of attack, using a spell to alter the weather which catches the Saxons by surprise. The battle is fierce, but King Arthur and his knights
prove victorious and recognize Queen Guinevere for her vital contribution to the war. Just as important, Lancelot is promoted as Guinevere’s primary guard and closest companion.
Arthur announces to the Kingdom that Guinevere is pregnant with twins. But both die at birth, leaving the King devastated. He shuns her, and left unprotected, she is kidnapped by the treasonous Malegant, one of Arthur’s knights. He holds her captive and viciously abuses her during her imprisonment. She manages to escape just as Lancelot arrives to rescue her.
Upon returning to Camelot, Guinevere discovers Arthur has remarried and has an heir to the throne. She returns to her true love, Lancelot. Jealous power-seekers expose them, and the couple are imprisoned. Without Arthur’s knowledge or authority, Guinevere is set to be burned at the stake by her enemies. As the flames engulf her, she calls upon her magic. Her supporters stage a rescue in time, leaving Guinevere and Lancelot free to leave the kingdom and start a new life together.
