Development Pitch

One season or expanded to several. Lonely Haylee is growing up in a small California farming town during the 1980s. Her dead mother left a special necklace containing a crystal. Haylee’s father barely knows she’s there. At seventeen Haylee still looks like she’s ten. She knows something is wrong but has no adult to confide in. After her transformation, Haylee periodically changes into a webbed predator. When she feeds, Haylee acquires the thoughts of her victims, leaving them like sleepwalkers. A quest to understand the origins of her strange behavior and a crystal call transports Haylee to San Francisco during the gold rush. She’s destined to meet Emis, a Traveler from the past. Disguised as a man, Haylee is drawn into Emis’s extortion scheme. While in San Francisco, Haylee falls for Reece Keener and becomes pregnant. Life seems happy for a time until the first great fire breaks out and she's abruptly returned to her own time. Haylee is faced with the sleepwalkers she left behind, including her new stepmom and best friend Josh. Restoring them comes with a cost: each one removes one year from the seven years Haylee has left to live. A further complication occurs when Norah arrives, an odd Traveler from the future. Haylee's story resembles Teen Wolf, Twilight, and Species but with less special effects. The cast could be modified for multi-racial characters and sexual orientations. Settings can also be modified to fit time frames producers wish to highlight.
