Development Pitch

Treasures of a Bronx Warrior, Photographs and Memories of a Devout New Yorker, Movie Star Hopeful and Loving Mother, is a tribute from a daughter to a her South Bronx native mother. Doris Banbury was a devout New Yorker who fancied being an actress. The book includes photos and stories Doris’s daughter wanted her to share about the A-list celebrities she photographed in and around New York during the 1950s. Doris, a survivor of nearly a decade of sexual abuse, used a camera, a gift her abuser first gave her, to take back her strength by creating wonderfully candid photos of the people she had aspired to become.
