Short Summary

Father and son share an usual hobby: breeding and racing pigeons. But they don't see eye to eye on the purpose of the birds. The boy is compassionate and views the birds as pets. The father just wants to win races. "Woot" is the name of their star racing pigeon. Will he win the big Southwest race?

Woot gets lost during the race. The father shrugs it off. To him, the bird's a "loser." The boy is upset and goes looking for Woot, but becomes lost himself in the desert. Woot rescues the boy instead, using his homing ability, and sends a message to the father (literally and figuratively).
