Nikki was supposed to leave town to fulfill her mother's dying wish to not let her estranged father find them. Unfortunately, Nikki becomes attached to a guy who’s a little too invested in her protection at work. Next thing she knows the man reveals he’s a shapeshifter and ends up reuniting her with her father for her own safety. Nikki comes to find out that she is the heir to the Alpha line of her father's pack which makes her a target of other people from her past.

Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

There is a certain self-awareness that Nikki has that her savior from the stalker isn't entirely normal either. This creates tension and suspicion about what Zack is and what his intentions are meant to be. The mother's prologue also sets up tension because Nikki is not running like her mother told her to do to keep her safe, so there can only be consequences.

Possible Drawbacks

The timeline of the relationship's pacing seems a bit rushed to seem plausible and earned. Especially with getting in a car to run away with a man Nikki has barely known for a week and just found out he is part wolf.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Nikki doesn't know she is a wolf shapeshifter and that her mother has wrongly kept her from her father for almost her whole life.

Fanbase Potential

The omegaverse is quite infamous nowadays therefore the first adaptation into a film could garner a larger crowd especially fans of the genre within multiple fanfiction fractions. However the genre at face value outside of the built in literary crowd would be a bit small as supernatural romance media has peaked in terms of wolves and vampires.

Awards Potential

The supernatural romance angle makes this an unlikely contender for awards nominations as does the main external conflict revolving around mating.

What’s New About the Story

The originality stems from the family dynamics in that Nikki original external goal to leave Mesa is at odds with her inner goal in that she needs family and thus there is tension in finding her father. By focusing less on her romance and more on the meaning of finding out the truth about her childhood this angle could be more developed.

Lead Characters

Nikki is trusting and adaptable. Zack is relentless and tough. Spence is unselfish and methodical.

Uniqueness of Story

The omegaverse itself is becoming more common as a romance trope. The characters chemistry is not embodied by their actions thus their connection has potential, but is underdeveloped to feel like a rare gem at this juncture.

Analyst Recommendation

WORK IN PROGRESS

Justification

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

Nikki and Zack are not flat characters in and of themselves, but their relationship is flat. Zack lauds Nikki for her independence when she only ever submits to him and Zack acts like a stalker. Zack does the very things that the villain does in terms of possessive behavior, Nikki just decides to accept his actions because she finds him attractive. Showing Nikki and Zack embodying chemistry outside of tingling sensations and fighting as well as interacting with other characters would help make their descriptions more accurate. Finding a way to make her original objective resolved through her relationships would help make the opening and the ending feel more cohesive.
