Beul Nam Beinn is the story of Douglas McDonald and his discovery of himself and family links to the sea. It is a story within a story as he reads the journal of his great, great grandmother and her lover, Posie, whom is half Mer. Discovering his true nature allows him to value his own unique ways and begin to build the life he has always gravitated towards.

Douglas McDonald inherits a Scottish estate which has a masonry-sealed cave called Beul Nam Beinn (Gaelic for "mouth in the hill") once occupied by an ancestor, Rebecca. He forces entry and discovers Rebecca's journal combined with that of her Mer lover, Posie. This causes a shift in self-value.
