Logline

This the story of an abused child in the early 20th Century, his maturing during the great depression of the 1930's and his uncanny ability with a rifle which sees him enter a world of crime and murder. He enlists in the army as a sniper and receives medals for his ability, but on his return to Australia he slips back into his old ways. It is essentially a "chase" book as he is pursued throughout his life by several policeman, one who dies in an attempt to capture him. With help from aboriginals, both physically and spiritually he avoids jail for all of his life, finally dying in the house of his only white friend after telling her the story of his horrible tortured life. It is a grim tale sprinkled with humour and although he is a career criminal he attempts on many occasions to straighten his life and fail.
