Narrated by 11-year-old Willie, this is the story of seven siblings who are being raised by two alcoholic adults, one of whom is addicted to paregoric. Willie is the oldest child, riding a roller coaster of betrayal, pain, and confusion, as he tries to be the man of the house and take on the responsibilities his parents simply cannot. Complicating matters further is his uproarious younger brother, McKee, who seems to continually get into hilarious scrapes.
