Development Pitch

Set against the backdrop of a marginally subjugated Caribbean and South America, this story intersects the storylines of three different characters. Luzia, a royal orphan is beset by agents of a devious Bishop intent on seizing her inheritance. In constant danger, she flees Peru for Spain. Santiago, a dashing young sea captain of royal lineage overcomes hazards of the sea and Carib pirates and meets his royal opposite. Jan, shanghaied by the Spanish in Lisbon is forced to serve in the Caribbean and is freed by a hurricane. The protagonist are accompanied by a strong cast of characters such as Alexandre Puga. He is a returning Conquistador and Luzia’s guardian. With them is her handmaiden the lovely and capable Incan girl, Samani. Jan inadvertently wins the hand of a Carib girl named Nye and together they partner with Carib leaders Rataya and Turik who are intent on gaining Spanish technology to ward Spanish slavers from their shores. Capturing arms and ships they take the fight to the Spanish. Santiago is accompanied by his burly first mate Pierre, and navigator Ruy who saves the ship during yellow fever and a storm. Beset by the hazards of the sea and piracy Santiago strives to protect his family’s investments. With plots within plots and constant tension, the book maintains a quick story tempo that will keep the audience engaged and entertained.
