Short Summary

Barry "Butch" Wilmore is a Naval Test Pilot in the 60's, reunites with his college girlfriend and reignites their love. Together, they become critical players in the Space Race, and the survival of Gus Grissom.

Gus Grissom is commander of Apollo 7 and guides the Lunar Module "Phoenix" to a spectacular landing. Grissom and his Lunar Module pilot, Neil Armstrong, are the first humans to safely land on the Moon. In a humble way, Gus tells Neil he will be the first man to step on the Moon instead of himself.
