Development Pitch

This adventure/comedic buddy movie was inspired by Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights, Wedding Crashers, Step Brothers, and Dodgeball. The story is about transformation of two men who, based on ignorant assumptions, despised each other. They will learn trust and teamwork on the road competing in pickleball tournaments across the United States. According to USAPA, Pickleball is among the fastest-growing sport in America with a 650% membership increase in the past 6 years. It has over 3 million active players in the United States. It also has a very silly name and has lots of interesting, quirky personalities, making it ripe for comedy. The comedic plot comes from differences in the main characters 40 years after they met. These two are now in their 60’s. One is a brash, cocky, jingoistic arrogant American from California named Chip Cox. The other is an introspective, philosophical, brooding, shy, Russian named Boris Baryshnikov. Both are caricatures of men from their respective countries. Now, in 2020, they are yearning for something that is missing in their lives. They have been living on opposite coasts of the United States, trying to make up for past mistakes, erase debts and find happiness through their stubborn and rigorous adherence to their ideologies.

About The Author

From jumping out of perfectly good aircraft as a US Army, Airborne Paratrooper in Germany to diving more than 300 feet as a deep-water SCUBA Instructor in the Caribbean; Dan Beeman has shown remarkable range in his pursuits. At the tender age of 50, he went back to graduate school and earned his Masters of Hospitality from UNLV where he wrote his final research paper on the Implications of Pickleball for the Hospitality Industry. The conclusions of the research were that resorts and clubs that have either tennis or basketball courts and they do not add pickleball are not maximizing potential revenue or their asset value. They are also losing market share, group travel and growth opportunities. Beeman seized upon this knowledge and his background in driving new revenue through creative sponsorships, partnerships and events by launching his consulting practice to help his clients succeed. Widely recognized as an expert in marketing, sponsorship, branded partnerships and specialty income, he founded and leads the largest internet–based networking group (19,000+) of sponsorship, media and marketing executives in the world on LinkedIn Members come from more than 20 countries and the top positions at agencies, major sports leagues, non-profit and many fortune 500 brand marketers. The group provides a forum for professionals to connect, enhance their knowledge and further their careers. He was profiled on CBS Evening News, Bloomberg News, BrandWeek as a “Marketer on a Roll” and his marketing programs have been featured in IEG’s Special Events Report, Bizbash and Promo Magazine, to name a few. He has also been quoted on sponsorship in the LA Times and Sports Business Journal. His marketing and sponsorship expertise have been acknowledged through numerous speaking engagements to conference attendees at International Events Group (IEG), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), The Luxury Marketing Council and more. His adjunct professor role on, “How to Effectively Monetize Assets to Maximize Revenue” at ICSC’s Professional School of Development, received rave reviews from students and staff. In his career Beeman has personally sold more than $20,000,000 in sponsorship and has collectively managed more than $100,000,000 in sponsorships and partnerships. He specializes in leveraging their assets to help clients develop revenue-generating partnerships. He has helped property rights-holders in valuing their assets, aggregate them, identify appropriate brand partners and maximize revenue. Some of the partnerships he has developed include: Wells Fargo, DirecTV, Infiniti, American Express, Singapore Airlines, TMobile, Comcast, The National Guard and Warner Brothers. Prior to founding Beeman Consulting/Sponsorship Insights Group, Beeman was Executive Director of Partnership Marketing for Caruso Affiliated; Vice President, New Business Development; Partnership Marketing for The Mills Corporation, VA; Vice President, Strategic Alliances for California Partnership Marketing Group; and Director of Sales, for Pier 39 Market Development, in addition to his years as a scuba instructor and paratrooper. He is based in Palm Desert, CA, enjoys playing pickleball, managing a team of Head/Penn sponsored players, traveling and supporting his son in his high school basketball career in Agoura Hills, California.
