Development Pitch
The story Home Front – A Memoir from WWII portrays my true story of a New England farm boy growing up during the sacrifices of World War II and the turbulent aftermath that confronted our American farm family. As the narrator, I am among the last ones who personally experienced the scarcity of the depression, the fear and patriotism during World War II, and the exuberance in that brief, post-war period when America felt safe and when the middle class was born. After the war, with the GI Bill, VA loans, and fully stocked store shelves, the country was all about getting back to normal. But for some, normal was gone. This memoir chronicles my farm family and how normal evaded our reach. The story is both touching and accurate describing the emotional, social and economic forces of the war and post-war America. Cinematic appeal Home Front is written in scenes with a balance of dialog, description and action. The World War II time setting and its imagery are iconic. The New England farm setting offers superb visuals at no great cost. Markets 1940s and 1950s nostalgia and the market for well told WW II stories remains constant. I am among the last writers who can tell the story from personal experience. The book success Home Front has reached as high as #10 (eBook) on Amazon and the print version hovers in the top 5 to 10%. Notable reviewers have provided glowing praise.
