Short Summary

Crispin is one of six children who can communicate with the dead. To keep his powers until he is 18, he must rescue his parents, who he believed were killed in a plane crash, from a remote island in 30 days. But there are dark forces who want to stop him. Will they all make it off the island alive?

Crispin rescues his parents, but his father is shot. To save his life, Crispin must use his powers, but this puts his destiny in jeopardy. Against his father's wishes, he sacrifices his powers and saves his life. Crispin does so willingly and his selflessness ensures he becomes one of the six.
