Remembering Anita Solick Oswald

Our team at TaleFlick was very sad to hear about the passing, earlier this year, of our Top Pick author Anita Solick Oswald. Her heartfelt memoir, West Side Girl, has touched us from the very first time we laid eyes on it, and made the rounds throughout major studios in Hollywood.

Like the book itself, Anita was both kind and funny; lighthearted and deeply emotional. We cherish the time we spent working with her on adapting her story, and vouch to keep working for it.

She had also submitted a horror short story, Blood Beach.

You can watch Anita's hilarious turn reading from her novel on the video below. It was recorded in 2020.

Anita was also a big supporter of the Off the Street Club, an organization from her native Chicago.  Founded in 1900, Off The Street Club is Chicago’s oldest boys and girls club. They currently serve more than 3,000 kids in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country, West Garfield Park. You can visit their website to know more about their work, and donate.

This west side girl's spirit and legacy will live on through Anita's family and her work. We are very, very fortunate to have met her.
