About The Author

Michael Elias grew up in Woodbourne, a small town in upstate New York. After graduating from St. John’s College, he moved to New York City and acted in The Living Theatre, La Mama and Caffe Chino and The Judson Poets Theatre. In Hollywood, Elias wrote screenplays and television; The Jerk, The Frisco Kid, Young Doctors in Love, and Lush Life starring Forrest Whitaker and Jeff Goldblum. At Warner Bros. he and Rich Eustis created the hit sit-com Head of the Class. Paul Mazursky directed Elias’ play The Catskill Sonata. The Los Angeles Weekly named it number one on its list of ten best plays for 2007. His novel The Last Conquistador was published by Open Road Media. Elias divides his time between Los Angeles and Paris with his wife Bianca Roberts. He has one son, Frederick Elias (1992), from his marriage to Laraine Mestman, as well as three stepsons and a grandson. He is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves on its Foreign Language Committee.
