I am new to this industry. I discovered a drive to write stories.
I am a postal worker for 35 years. I plan to retire in 4 years. I work inside of a
distribution center in Philadelphia. I have no worry about the cold, rain, heat or snow.
Below is a 3 page sample of my script. I hope you enjoy it.
TEASER
INT. COLLINS HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY
NORA COLLINS, 30, good humored, but serious, cleans up after breakfast. She peeks out from the kitchen to the living room.
NORA
Steven, I told you three times to get yourself and Adam ready for the park. Now go, hurry up.
LIVING ROOM - SAME
STEVEN, 7, keeps his focus on watching his Sunday cartoons.
ADAM, 4, Autistic, Adam touches the TV screen trying to pet the animals he sees. The television shuts off.
Steven pushes Adam away, and turns the television back on.
Adam sneaks his hand out again and touches the TV. It shuts off.
Steven pushes him away a little harder this time and turns the television on again.
ADAM
Mommy.
Nora steps into the living room, drying her hands.
NORA
Steven, Adam! I told you before. Don’t make me say it again.
STEVEN
But Mom, Adam keeps touching the TV.
NORA
You heard me.
STEVEN
You never blame him, you always blame me.
NORA
Turn the TV off and go get ready.
STEVEN
Can’t I watch a little longer?
NORA
I said now. Not later. Now.
Steven gets up off the couch and stomps towards his room.
As Nora walks over to shut the TV off, her phone lights up with a text. It’s Irv: I’m here let’s go.
Adam grabs her legs then her cell phone shuts off.
EXT. ELFRETH PARK - DAY
Steven plays on the monkey bars. Adam builds cars, planes, rockets and space men out of his lego set, on a one foot high flat wooden barrier that separates the play area from the walkway besides his parents.
IRV, 30’s, big middle gut, stands next to Nora, his wife. Irv not paying much attention to Nora or the boys.
Nora taps Irv’s arm and points to Steven. Irv is on his phone. They watch and applaud Steven’s skills on the monkey bars.
NORA
I’m real worried about Adam starting school tomorrow.
IRV
They have a lot of kids like him. Don’t worry.
NORA
Not exactly like him.
IRV
I think we finally picked a good school for him.
Adam rises from his parents side, walks to the children’s water fountain. Nora and Irv don’t see, still looking at Steven swinging on the bars. They exchange laughter when suddenly Steven yells out.
STEVEN
Adam! He’s taking Adam!
Nora and Irv turn and see a man holding Adam and running away with him.
Nora and Irv start to chase after him, yelling.
NORA
Put my son down!
IRV
Stop you bastard!
Other children and parents turn to see what’s happening.
Nora gains on the man who’s about to reach the park’s exit. Irv loses steam behind her and dials 911.
Nora takes a giant step and for a second, grabs his hood. His hood comes off enough for Nora to see red curly hair.
The kidnapper holds Adam with one arm, pushes Nora to the ground. She glimpses his face.
He keeps running Nora reads the back of his hood which says FERKO Bar and Grill.
ADAM
Mommy, mommy.
A green car pulls up in front of the man.
NORA
My baby! Somebody Stop him!
The man gets in the green car with Adam, and the car peels away, leaving Nora and Irv behind watching in horror as it disappears around the corner.
