This does not have awards potential as is. Kartel's character has the potential to be very impactful and inspirational but not much time is taken to explore him emotionally. Kartel is a product of his environment and childhood, moving through the world to maintain his status and persona. He excels at it. There isn't much to him outside of this because that part of him is not explored in the story. It is about his time on the streets.

This is an entertaining film that sheds light on a world seldom seen. And from the perspective of those born into it. It addresses topics such as racism, drugs in poor communities, violence, toxic parents and education disparities.
