About The Author

Let me introduce myself, my name is Jayne, I’m a lady of a certain age (over 50, bites fingernails). I am an identical twin, the younger one of course by 7 minutes. I am married to a wonderfully complicated man, or as he puts it, off his rocker Rob. We have celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. I have one daughter and two grandbabies one boy and one girl. I was born in the Isle of Man; this makes me Manx (not British or English). I moved to the UK for several years, and as a child, I lived in Italy for a while. But, the island calls to me so I returned home in 1998. I love the sea and now it’s only a stone’s throw from my home. I have worked in the caring profession for 34 years and have been a hospital nurse manager, out of hours, until very recently, now I write full time pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a full-time writer. I have always believed that I could and would write a book, but life just seemed to get in the way. Until someone asked me the question, “What do I want?” The answer was easy, the hard part was making it happen. Well, it did and it has and it was life-changing for me. Follow your dreams, because you never know where they will take you next.

Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes the book profile accurately reflects the story.

Draw of Story

Nathan and Lenny have a very strong attraction as soon as they see each other. There is also an interesting look into the world of BDSM.

Possible Drawbacks

The book relies heavily on the sex to drive the plot. If there was more focus on the world of BDSM and not seeing it through the constructs of Lenny and Nathan's relationship, it could be more interesting.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that this is Fifty Shades of Grey with a same sex couple. I would watch this movie but it needs more substance.

Fanbase Potential

This will not have a large fanbase even though it is very similar to Fifty Shades of Grey. I do not think that main audiences are open to an explicit sex film with a gay couple yet. Fifty Shades of Grey had lots of backlash and that displayed an all American couple.

Awards Potential

This story, as is, does not have awards potential. It is centered around BDSM and not in an artistic way. It could have awards potential if it showed insight into the BDSM world and focused on the LGBTQIA community within.

Envisioned Budget

LOW BUDGET

What’s New About the Story

The story is original because it shows the relationship between a gay couple in the BDSM world. The format it follows, however, is not original as it is about intense attraction and sexual desire only. There are many stories like this in which the sex scenes are the most important part.

Lead Characters

The lead characters are somewhat polarizing. Nathan is an alpha male who is a dominant, and aggressive. Lenny was very meek and anxious which sometimes made the relationship seem abusive. The relationship was always consensual.

Uniqueness of Story

This is an average story about sex and lust with a little bit of love and romance thrown in. It can be improved by either focusing on the BDSM community or deepening the emotional connection between Lenny and Nathan.

Possible Formats

Film - Indie, Film - Streaming, TV Series - Limited Run / Mini-Series, TV Series - Streaming

Analyst Recommendation

WORK IN PROGRESS

Justification

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

To make this a consider, there would need to be more of an emotional storyline. Much of the story is about the next sexual trial Nathan can put Lenny through. They do get engaged at the end, but it wasn't a satisfying end considering the journey the characters take.
