About The Author

About the Author Eleanor is a mother of four, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of three. She loves and adores her family. In 1975 she moved to Owen Sound and bought and ran the Diamond Motel. Always, there was more to Eleanor’s life – there was volunteering. She helped organize the local Zonta chapter because she believed that women should support each other locally, and around the world. She was named a Volunteer of the Year by the City of Owen Sound in April 2007. An advocate for better health care in rural areas she created a petition that was signed by more than 9,000 people and was presented to government in 2005. Eleanor combined her love of painting with running Bridges Art Gallery. She was made a Lady Knight in the Order of Alexander the Great in 2009. An honour bestowed on her to recognize her contribution to the art world, not only through her own paintings, but also for her efforts to create workshops, and lectures to bring art alive. Through her art gallery and her connections with the MEA (Museum of European Art) in Clarence NY, she provided opportunities for local artists to show their work. At the age of 82, she is retired from business, but is still painting, pole-walking, traveling, and delighting in her friendships and family. Those who know her well, would say she is energetic, feisty, generous, and loving. Her art and community spirit are appreciated by the townspeople of Owen Sound, Ontario, where she still resides.
