Development Pitch

The main character in this post-apocalyptic read is admirable yet flawed. She is supported and challenged by a broad range of engaging secondary characters--and a dog, and the antagonist is sufficiently evil. Portrayed as someone who faces the demise of the world in a remote location with relative preparedness and equanimity, her circumstances then vastly change. She somehow meets the new challenges at a significant cost to her, both physically and emotionally. The latter forces her to examine who she really is, or has become and determine if she can live with herself. In the end, the antagonist is dealt with and there is hope for her and the other survivors in the future, albeit with unforeseen dangers and an anticipated array of changes. It fits for a TV movie, with balanced action, a powerful climax, and both social interaction and inner dialogue, featuring a strong lead and good supporting cast--and the dog. The book has appealed to all genders.
