Development Pitch

Gypsies are the largest minority in Europe. They are among the most stereotyped and persecuted of all peoples. For this reason most Gypsies don't freely share their identities even with their friends. I have always admired Alex Haley for writing Roots The Saga Of An American Family. His book allowed everyone to see through Black peoples' eyes and understand and share their feelings. I wrote my book for the same reason, so that my Romani people and culture could be seen as part of the human story by the dominant culture. Set in Early Victorian England, Brothers Of The Wind tells the story of my ancestor English Gypsy Adam Stanley's struggle against injustice and harsh conditions brought on by the Industrial Revolution. Imprisoned on a false charge Owen loses his wife, and his sons are placed in a Christian mission where the daughter of the Judge who convicted him fosters them. Her sense of equality and fairness inspires Adams sons to fight injustice and slavery on three continents.
