Development Pitch

If you grew up in the 80’s and 90’s tv shows became a big thing I recalied watching a show called The Little House on the Prairie and it was about a family who lived on a farm .Over the years I looked for another show like that but it wasn’t very many. All the shows today seem the same , like we have over a dozen cop shows not mention doctors show and fire this fire that .I got excited to see Ashton Kutcher on Netflix with the show called the ranch but it was boring then I watched Mud on Netflix, it was boring to. Then American crime season three gave us a taste Oprah represented us with queen sugar and then Paramount pictures is doing a great job I love Yellowstone. But none of those millennium farm shows will be as good as my show called the fields, it will give you realism ,action and drama For only an hour you’ll feel like all your on a roller coaster ride.

Accuracy of Book Profile

The profile could certainly be improved. The author added only two characters (families) to the profile, and some characters, that are relevant to the series, were left out. The logline is more of a premise than a logline with a clear and objective narrative. We know about the subject of the series, but not necessarily about the narrative line to be followed.

Draw of Story

Not necessarily, because the script is more of a character sheet with some initial dialogue than, in fact, a script with a finished narrative and structure, with interactions between families that actually could provide us the points of relationship and conflict. The subject is interesting, the characters seem to have the potential to generate conflicts, so it would be interesting to understand what comes next.

Possible Drawbacks

No. Actually, this initial stage of the script makes you want to know what will happen next.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook would be to know a little more about life on the farm and its countless characters that are part of an agricultural planting. Also, the controversial universe of the marijuana plantation.

Fanbase Potential

It could have, but we would need to see a series pilot to understand how this interesting idea would be developed.

Awards Potential

The theme has potential for awards because it explores different points of view in a marijuana plantation. From the owners' perspective, the workers' perspective, the legal market of the plant, and the criminal consequences of the illegal market. All of these views could elevate the series to a positive dramatic level.

Envisioned Budget

LOW BUDGET

What’s New About the Story

As a series, having subplots is expected and familiar, but giving room to the perspective of field workers is somewhat original.

Lead Characters

We have no enough time to get to know the characters in depth. We know their initial wishes through the first dialogues, but we don't see them in conflict situations to really understand how they operate. Maria Sanchez has the potential for a good character arc. She has one of the most exciting narrative lines because she actually hides a past and socially shows a different personality.

Uniqueness of Story

It doesn't seem to be. Despite the thematic relevance and the weight of some characters, the series does not seem to have the potential to be a rare gem. It would demand a narrative construction to develop the story.

Analyst Recommendation

WORK IN PROGRESS

Justification

In fact, it is a work in progress because the file uploaded is not a complete script for a pilot episode. We have a synopsis, a character sheet already with dialogues, where we can understand the tone and style of the series. However, we do not have the outcomes of a complete script.

Tips for Improvement

The author has good ideas. The agricultural universe of the farms is an exciting setting for a series, especially when you have the characters all in that same environment, which can increase conflicts and dramatic lines. Having characters like the field workers brings a new perspective to the story. Some characters are interesting such as Maria Sanchez, who used to be a millionaire in Mexico, was married to a drug dealer, and now hides on an American farm running away from her past. She is a complex and intriguing character. The dialogues are very expository, though. I understand that the author wants to clarify each character's intentions through these initial dialogues since we do not have a complete script, but the opening scenes of a series are your business card. This is what will make the audience really stick to the story. If we already receive a lot of information right away, the chance of losing interest is bigger. More implicit, more subjective lines would be more attractive. The subplot of illegal immigration is also enjoyable. Seeing characters accepting work in the fields to get an American visa or the imminent risk of deportation also increases stakes. It's a good starting point for a series, but we need to see the entire script of the pilot episode to analyze more precisely the commercial potential of the material.
