Development Pitch

A young pioneer, zealous of his faith, must overcome his mother’s hatred of Indians and a hotheaded brave’s hatred of whites, as he seeks to lead the war chief of the Cherokee to faith in Christ and avoid a bloody warpath. Things become more problematic when the pioneer and the war chief’s daughter fall in love, causing the pioneer’s mother to have a near nervous breakdown and the hotheaded brave to retaliate since he considers the girl his woman. But the girl is a free-spirited woman, who wears short fringed dresses, just like her mother—to the chagrin of the tribes’ older women. She will choose her own man, even if he is white, and will go as far as to follow his God. The hotheaded brave blames everyone for his loss and takes it out on anyone who dares cross his path. He will utilize this as a means to bring reproach to the war chief and take over his position. The government’s responsibility of negotiating with the natives on their removal to Indian Territory has been placed on Colonel Andrew Jackson. But Jackson’s ego-maniacal ways bring an abrupt ending to the negotiations, causing principal chief Pathkiller to abruptly leave the meeting enraged. After much intrigue, the hotheaded brave’s heart is captivated by the young pioneer’s sister. Love blossoms between the two. The brave and the pioneer reconcile; culminating in a double wedding. All seems peaceful, until the battle that caused the Cherokee to go to Indian Territory.
