Short Summary

Cal, a 90 year old man, is recording his thoughts into a device that ultimately will be turned to text and printed. He and sisters musical journey begins when they borrow a rock album that is not welcomed in their home-due to moms religious beliefs and dads dislike of anything related to skiffle.

Development Pitch

Musicals can and do make money and can bring in much more than the needed return on investment for the Movie producer. E.g. $609m Mama Mia 2008, $131m School of Rock 2003, $434m Greatest Showman 2017, $903m Bohemian Rhapsody 2018. 1) Phil Collins, Steve Hackett, Michael Rutherford, and Peter Gabriel world tours have garnered interest of many old and new fans. Genesis fans in the millions upon millions world wide have been wanting more Genesis and a reunion tour. Just look at any fan page. Name recognition and star power. 2) The music set to this story line emphasizes the emotion/mood of the session that is timeless. The story briefly hits upon themes of bi-racial family, sexuality, drugs, politics, military, war, and death that are talked of in a way that it is G rated. The main character is faced with the fact she is an empath. This is a relatively new term used to describe someone who can feel others emotions. This would be a new plot idea coupled with music to express the characters feelings. A musical track was produced as a demo for Session 10 which is found on YouTube for your review, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1j-fGbc5y4 (In the Cage. A Tricky Tale, Ashes to Roses-Session 10) This story is the genesis of a musical utilizing the music of Genesis. The idea the writer had in mind of the adult actors are, Mom-Amy Adams. Dad-Will Smith. Grandad Cal-Dick VanDyke. Grandad-Phil Collins or Harvey Keitel (Can he sing?). Grandma-Rita Morena.
