Development Pitch

The story of Jared is one of a lovable rabbit who struggles to fulfill his dream of making carrot pancakes! Children of all ages who are enamored with animals and food can follow along on his desperate adventure to realize his goal. With so much stacked against him, it seems nothing will work until finally, through the help of a friend, Jared figures out what matters most...good relationships, community and sharing with others. This story began only verbally, as a bedtime story for my daughters. They could relate to the cute bunny who hadn't done everything right, was a little neglectful in ways and now that he couldn't get what he wanted, he was frustrated and on the verge of a tantrum. What I love most about the story is how it has mirrored my life. I often reach a point where my deficiencies are all I can see. I can easily get stuck in an emotional state where I'm unable to see what is good about me or my situation. But like Jared, I have learned and grown so much. I am thankful that there's always been some intervention; a message, experience, or a friend who comes along and reminds me that I do possess gold. We all do! Sometimes we just need help to see it. I can imagine Jared's journey to self realization as a movie or on television, with music, humor and touching moments between him and others that enlighten us all and inspire us while also entertaining us.

About The Author

I'm a singer who's sang and toured with some of music's greats! What keeps me sane in the music business is the gift of stealing away to write. Stories to be sung or read to my children and others are all a pleasure to be involved with. This is my first published book. It starts out with a dream, then disappointment, followed by a tantrum and some unexpected help from a true friend. This food and friendship tale began in our very own home with my daughters and I. I'm proud to present it.
