Development Pitch

The Quest of the Guardians is a natural for adaptation to film. Each episode completes one part of the journey while providing a trail of clues that will lead viewers to the 4th and final episode. Each book has a story capable of standing alone as one film in a series, but they could be adapted into 2 long films or a TV series, too. The over-arching conflict is that the planet will be destroyed if the characters fail in their quest, but they must grow and evolve along the way to even understand what needs to be done, because their initial beliefs lack the insights that they must discover—which is that they cannot do it alone and need to unite all the peoples of their world to generate the needed power to stop the catastrophe. The MCs and their friends travel through four elemental realms, each with its own distinct culture that represent different cross-sections of society: the workers, the hippies, the intellectuals, and the red-necks. Each with their own world-views and ideas about how things should be. The MCs encounter friends and foes while battling bizarre creatures, discovering clues, solving riddles, and racing against the alignment of three moons. Only to discover in the end, that it wasn’t enough. That they need all the different cultures to stop fighting and come together as one...which requires their willingness to make that choice. Gust of Wind is part three. Dust of Earth and Drop of Water are also available on TaleFlick. Spark of Fire is being written.

Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

This is the third installment, and continues the quest Malakai and King Jakin are on to reclaim the throne from King Faeran.

Possible Drawbacks

This is the third book in a four part story. The story is beginning to drag. The second and third books could have been one. There are many chapters where nothing significant happens - nothing that drives the plot. This story needs to be abridged. There could also be less characters involved.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that this is the third installment of an ongoing story. It opens its world up, showing another realm with new creatures and interesting lands. The characters are getting closer to their goals.

Fanbase Potential

This could have a large fanbase but the story is dragging on longer than anticipated.

Awards Potential

This does not have awards potential. There is an adolescent vibe to this story with many of the characters being teenagers. There is not a lot of depth.

Envisioned Budget

Similar Films/TV Series

What’s New About the Story

The story is original in its world building. The characters have traveled; they are seeing new lands and places. There are interesting creatures and people. Otherwise, this follows the quest adventure genre' formula.

Lead Characters

The lead characters do not stand out. Over the course of three books, there is very little character development or arc for any of the characters.

Uniqueness of Story

This story is an average story with fun, magical elements mixed in to make it more interesting. This story can be improved by making the stakes higher, and more dangerous. There is little sense of urgency and it needs more focus on the quest, and not as much on the small details.

Possible Formats

Film - Streaming, TV Series - Limited Run / Mini-Series, TV Series - Streaming

Analyst Recommendation

This is a consider because the previous two parts are solid. I assumed this would be the final part, and was mistaken. The story drags at this point but if made more concise can be a strong series.
