Short Summary

A shadowy figure from her family’s past stalks Madison on the last day of the school year then a hovering figure of a small person appears inside her backyard cavern. When a stairpath portal opens in the cavern, Madison follows her pet gopher down into another world.

After helping save Krybos from the forces that drew her there, Madison learns that the queen is her grandmother. Her grandfather had been there before and battled the same foe. Maintaining balance between the worlds only allows brief visits so he had to return to the surface as Madison now must.
