Development Pitch

The Daemons of Windmill Hill novel in its richness is ripe for adaptation. Directors and Producers will appreciate the Man vs. Menace conflict and compelling characters. With a creepingly fresh take on the typical horror menace these visually interesting antagonists could be indelible with the right creative team. This tale is a constant contradiction between the beauty of a lush, verdant, New England landscape and the darkness that looms within its land beneath the land, a sense of dread and nerve pressing suspense permeates the story. The use of ancient mythology makes this Gothic horror really stand out. After many years at sea, Whaling Captain Micah Churchman leaves the whaling trade, and is anxious to rekindle his relationships with his wife, Eliza, and daughter, Charity. When they finally settle into familial bliss—horror strikes in the form of an evil menace, the Matchee. A broken branch of the evolutionarily tree… A desperate Micah seeks help from his trusted harpooner, Asmasok, and new acquaintance, Author/Adventurer Herman Melville. Together the three travel to the Red Cliffs of Martha’s Vineyard and the seedy waterfront port of New Bedford MA where startling revelations of Micah’s family’s fate unfold. The men conceive a wild plan to destroy the Matchee. As they prepare for a tribal war Asmasok and Micah become blood brothers. A brutal battle between good and evil unfolds with gut wrenching consequences.
