Development Pitch

The Last Fallen is not just the title, it refers to Eddie who is the last fallen angel that hasn't decided between good or evil. In this fictional tale, supposedly not all fallen angels became demons, but some chose to become collaborators of the guardian angels. Only Eddie is left without selecting a side because he doesn't feel anything for humans, neither he hates us or love us. What he doesn't know is that there is a legend about the last fallen. Abhorred by those who were once his friends, he doesn't understand the urgency or what difference it makes for him to choose. When things get out of control, God chooses to touch his life in a different way and transform him into a human with no knowledge of his real identity. The setting changes with the life of Kevin (Eddie as human) a teenage boy who thinks that has mental issues with visions of demons. He's an orphan whose world turns upside down when realizes that his visions are real and he must be protected against a group of demons that wants to end the legend. This can be a film for older teenagers and up, and appealing for any gender. Suitable for people that likes superhero movies due to the fast tempo, powerful wars between good and evil, devastation of buildings in a tridimensional world. It contains a lot of special effects of humans changing to mystical angels and changing settings between our world and theirs. Eddie's struggles can be compared with ours as we live in the same impure world. We are all important.

Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile closely matches the book's contents.

Draw of Story

The idea that angels can fall but not become demons rather have the option to be collaborators to help humans and guardian angels is interesting. To allow degrees of free choice to angels is a philosophy not commonly seen but in line with why angels fall from heaven in the first place so it may fit into the Christian cannon in some way.

Possible Drawbacks

The formatting is in prose style, but the dialogue is in very long blocks of text, which can make conversations hard to follow; especially when there are multiple personas being changed in and out of within the same scene by multiple characters.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Eddie is a fallen angel that hasn't picked a side and therefore is given the unique opportunity to be human and understand God's use of free will in humans - something that angels do not have the same luxury of.

Fanbase Potential

As it stands, this might have a small religious fanbase or a small fantasy following.

Awards Potential

Christian fantasy that is not rooted in the real word or historical epics has a tough market to appeal to Christian awards. It might be difficult for this story especially because of the added mythology, however the same Christian mythology might be polarizing to audiences voting on mainstream secular awards.

What’s New About the Story

What is original about the story is instead of an angel interacting with the human world and having a conflict of love or hiding something from the demons on earth, the angel is a human and the hidden person on earth. There is no love story and there is no learning how to be human which is refreshing for angel interactions. Something that could enhance the multiple personas and human secret is more foreshadowing of the connection for the audience that the protagonist is unaware of as it could help build suspense.

Lead Characters

What makes the main character stand out if that he’s a teenage boy who used to be an angel and does not have a love story that causes the main conflict in their choice to rejoin God or become a fallen angel.

Uniqueness of Story

This not a rare gem, but it has some unique qualities about angel mythology. Somethings that could be developed to make it more unique is making the reveal later in the story rather than starting with a flashback of the change. There are some fun interactions between Eddie and Seba, and adding more guardian angel scenes will add to the uniqueness as this vein of the mythos is more rare.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

Breaking up the dialogue into more digestible portions could help focus the conversations and increase contrast for better comprehension of the exchanges. Changing the format to more interplay between the two realms rather than shielding Eddie as human (even after he is aware of the other realms) would add memorable visuals to the conflict. Also deciding on a script format or a prose format would help make the story easier to follow as well from a reading standpoint.
