Short Summary

The story begins in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York city. John Cardomen is a day trader having lunch in Washington square. He decides to got shopping before returning to work and stops by a Chinese shop on 9th street. He buys a crystal ball at a Chinese store.


John gets distracted and plunges off the Pacific Coast highway to his death 300 feet below. The crystal ball smashes into a million pieces and John is dead. Later on the TV news children find crystal remains on a beach where the wreck occurred and something magical about the crystal remains.

Development Pitch

Everyone dreams of having the power to see into the future and John Cardomen gets to see the future both to his advantage and disadvantage. It cost him the life of his girlfriend, however he comes into a lot of money. Unfortunately, the money was stolen from the Flying Dragons Chinese Gang from Canal street, Manhattan and they want the money back. John is forced to flee to Toronto, Canada with his recent fortune on the stock market. While in Toronto, John meets and marries Serena and they honeymoon in Hawaii. The crystal ball reveals John was about to fall into a pool and hit his head and die, but Serena sees the image and rushes to John to save his life. Instead the Hotel Manager slips and falls into the pool hitting his head on the edge of the pool and dying. Surprised and shook up John is forced to tell Serena about the crystal ball and it's magical powers. To avoid the Flying Dragons, John and Serena move to Capristano, California and set up a business there. One day a Mexican maid, Maria hears John talking to Serena about the magical powers of the crystal ball. Desperate to become rich the maid steals the crystal all and flees to Mexico. John hires a private detective to track her down. Maria ends up in a town north of Mexico City where she gets in trouble with the local thug, El Diablo, who learns of the magical properties of the crystal ball. A chase ensues and John's detective arrives just in time to save Maria's life and the crystal ball.

This is a story about the question, "what if someone had the power to see into the future? How would they use this power? For good or bad and what are the results of bending time? John Cardomen is a stock trader living in New York City. One day he buys an very old crystal from Chinese merchant in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The merchant warns John that the crystal is from the Han dynasty and that it has magical powers. John does not believe the merchant and buys the crystal anyway because of its beautiful blue color. Because of the crystal John loses his girlfriend, comes into Millions of dollars, is chased by the Flying Dragons Chinese gang, runs away to Toronto, gets married and finds out the crystal ball can predict the future by reflecting light on a wall. While living in California a Mexican maid steals the crystal ball in hopes of making a dream come true for her husband. Her husband is killed in a car crash and she has to flee to Mexico to avoid John finding her. John has to hire a private detective to find the maid. The detective tracks the maid down to a town north or Mexico City. While hiding the maid tells a friend about the magical powers of the crystal ball and the friend tells a local thug about the secret. The local thug tracks the maid down and burns down her house in search of the magical crystal ball. The detective arrives just in time to capture the maid and fly her out of Mexico City back to California with the thug close behind. After John gets the crystal ball back he decides to take it to a gypsy woman who lives up the coast to find out how to control the magical powers of the crystal ball. On the way home John has a deadly car crash and his car and crystal ball plunge down the sea cliffs 300 feet to his death and the crystal being broken into pieces.
