A majority of the book is told in second person to explain all of the religious philosophies in order to understand the three storylines that come at the end. The book profile reflects that the three characters are the center of the story when the first two thirds of the narrative does not involve the characters as examples. By adjusting the narrative to include the three characters more to match their level of focus in the book profile or adjusting the profile to match the level of focus on the philosophies rather than the characters, the two areas will match better.

The issues that the characters have to come to terms with are relatable and there is emotional investment in their struggle.

There is a majority of the book that is just exposition of abstract concepts in the second person narrative rather than showing the concepts in action through the third person characters. Either breaking up the exposition between characters or adapting the exposition to use more concrete examples the balance of show-don't-tell will be avoided.

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

The hook is that the characters are dealing with relatable conflicts such as abuse and parental mortality, but there is also a character that applies the philosophies to a a rare occurrence of assassination that increases curiosity as well.

This could have a smaller fanbase of those that belief the philosophies of reincarnation, but also have a Christian background to understand the biblical references. As people rarely change their religious backgrounds this is a rare group, but potentially could also apply to people searching for spiritual direction in doubting their own religion which is a larger group.

Abstract philosophies and religiously affiliated works have trouble gaining traction in the award circuit. This might gain attention in the alternative religions market outside of the Western majority, but not in prestige ceremonies.

The religious philosophies are very avant-garde compared to the Western Abraham-ic majority. To make it more unique and applicable the abstract philosophies could be turned into concrete examples of more real life situations.

The lead characters path to acceptance is unusual which presents them with extraordinary serenity that many people are seeking in their own lives.

This has rare philosophies, but for people to understand them without exposition the structure could be improved to make the theme and the narrative more cohesive.

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Consider focusing on the three characters as the basis for explaining the philosophies as you develop their stories. This will even out the pacing and divide the beginning exposition into more digestible concrete examples. Connecting the characters to one another either thematically or narrative-wise will clarify why the three different concepts are being presented as one story. Altering the structure will help the themes and plot better fit a three act structure needed to create a cohesive and dynamic narrative.
