Development Pitch
Two years ago, my twin brother wound up in a mental hospital. His anxiety had gotten him to a place where he was considering self-harm and we needed to save him. I'll never forget the day I checked him in. I gave him a copy of All the F*cks I Cannot give because 1. I knew he'd have the time to read it and 2. It's a damn funny book and he was in the most unfunny places of all. He described it as a self-help book disguised as fiction. I think he's right. In this day and age, we need a healthy dose of humor and escapism. That's where All the F*cks I Cannot Give comes into play. Most coming of age stories are written about teens or maybe twenty-somethings. This one features a man in his mid forties who has never, ever, lived life on his own terms. In short, he gives too many fucks. After being unceremoniously fired over the phone while on a business trip, he's convinced to play against type and take a spur of the moment trip to Hawaii. And that's when his transformation from Clark Kent into Superman begins. I see this as a film rather than a series. It will provide two hours of escapism and laughter to adult men and women and will really speak to those who feel as if they are holding themselves back from living a complete life. While they watch Kelly's transformation, viewers will be transported to the beaches of Maui, the concrete jungle of New York, and the underground swinger scene of suburban Chicago—and they will enjoy belly laughs along the way.

Accuracy of Book Profile
Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.
Draw of Story
The tone of the story is very distinct. Kelly is a mild mannered individual who does not defend himself. He knows his wife is a lesbian and plays along with her desire to have an open marriage to keep the farce up for their parents. He is aware she takes advantage of him but still does her bidding. When he finally gets a break from her and his life is he able to reevaluate it and make changes.
Possible Drawbacks
This story goes in many directions. Kelly becomes more confident and writes his book. He becomes very successful. He also becomes involved in the swingers community. The story does not treat the LGBTQAI characters in a kind way. There are many nicknames for Kelly's wife that are derogatory terms that aren't necessary, especially when they come from supporting characters.
Use of Special Effects
THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS
Primary Hook of Story
The hook is that Kelly breaks free from his mundane life to live the life he has never dreamed about. The story is very relatable because it shows a person making changes to live their life and not just survive. Most adults do not have life all figured out and there are periods of growth that happen with everyone.
Fanbase Potential
This could have a large fanbase but it would definitely be geared towards a more mature audience. The story is about someone who did everything right. Kelly has a beautiful wife, a nice house and a stable job. But Kelly is just going through the motions and when everything falls out from under him does he realize that he needs a change. He is almost forced to by a new companion, Terri, but it starts him on a new journey.
Awards Potential
This does not have awards potential. While this shows important moments in Kelly's life when he puts himself first, it is not a deep dive into human psyche. It is more surface level.

What’s New About the Story
There is nothing truly original about the story except how Kelly finds himself confronted with the state of his life. He takes a spontaneous trip with a beautiful actress to Maui. She challenges him and he grows as a result. The story of a white man living a mundane life and circumstances forcing him to change is not unique. Some diversity in the characters would make this story more unique. Asian characters lack major representation in the media and this story would lend well to an Asian American as the main character.
Lead Characters
The lead character doesn't stand out which is the point of the story. But in the end, he is brave enough to make a change in his life to be happy.
Uniqueness of Story
This is not a rare gem but an entertaining story about adulthood and the choices we all make in life. The story can be improved with having a diverse cast. There are rich cultures that could be highlighted, respectfully, to add depth to the story.
