    Starting Description

Mike Colby rescues a hostage in a rickety old shuttle for cash. His ex-wife, the CEO of a galactic shipping corporation, offers him a big job to deliver terms of a treaty to an old alien enemy who has entered the area. Mike needs to know how they got there and why.

    Ending Description

Mike reveals to the captain (Tisch) that assassins killed her father, not his ex-wife Gemini, thus ending their feud. Gemini releases Tisch and the Blue Eagle, allowing her to operate as an independent. As a result, Mike finally wins Tisch's heart. No one knows that Mike still has the module.

    Pitch Adaptation

Space Truckers has many of the attributes of Guardians of the Galaxy, Killjoys and even Star Wars, while having distinctly different characters. Conflict arises all around Mike, a mercenary, as his past with ex-wife and CEO Gemini complicates his relationship with the freighter captain Tisch, leading to volatility between the three of them and her small crew of misfits. The alien officers recall Mike's past in a special forces raid on their planet, fueling their thirst for revenge. Meanwhile assassins, hired by rivals, hunt for the module and will kill to get it. The module allows people or objects, including ships, to be transported across vast distances in a few seconds. The aliens want it for their invasion force; the rivals want it to control all shipping in the galaxy. I envision this as the beginning of many adventures for the freighter Blue Eagle.

    Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the script profile accurately reflects the contents of the script and summarizes the script precisely.

    Draw of Story

Something that draws attention to the story is the lack of detail in the very beginning. It starts off vague, which intrigues the viewer to watch more to see if they can learn more about the plot.

    Possible Drawbacks

The lack of detail throughout the script was a little bit confusing. There were many plot points that were left unexplained, and the characters' emotions felt a bit too intense in places unnecessary just to drive the plot.

    Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

Something that draws attention to the story is the lack of detail in the very beginning. It starts off vague, which intrigues the viewer to watch more to see if they can learn more about the plot.

    Fanbase Potential

I believe it would have a light fanbase, not large. This could definitely be a segue for anyone who wants to get into the space fiction genre but also loves regular drama, very similar to Star Trek.

    Awards Potential

Unfortunately, the story is a bit too generic to be considered for any awards. Unless the graphics and VFX are phenomenal, I don't see this having awards potential.

    Envisioned Budget

    MEDIUM BUDGET

    Similar Films/TV Series

STAR TREK, THE ORVILLE, THE MANDALORIAN.

    What’s New About the Story

The originality of the story lies in the fact that it focuses on a mercenary rather than a royal somewhere. It's a story about the underdogs of the galaxy rather than someone crucial for the peace and justice of the galaxy.

    Lead Characters

Mike Colby, is a mercenary who happens to be an underdog barely cruising by in life. His ex-wife happens to be the CEO of a shipping/trading company that also employs him to do dirty work.

    Uniqueness of Story

There is potential for it to be a rare gem, if the characters were fleshed-out a little bit more. However, due to the uncertainty of each character's personality and why their personality is the way it is, the story slips out of the viewer's mind.

    Analyst Recommendation

    WORK IN PROGRESS

    Justification

The story has a lot of plot holes where as a reader, I kept asking "why did this happen?" or "why did they react that way?", which was never addressed later in the script either. The writing needs to be structured better and explained more.

    Tips for Improvement

With The Mandalorian out in streaming, and has a very similar 'mercenary/bounty hunter' vibe to the show, it clashes with this story. The story needs a bit more revision as to why any character reacts the way they do, because a lot of it seems unnecessary and adolescent in nature. Also, the structure and writing style of the script could be improved, since a lot of it was incorrect, which was distracting while reading.

    Brief

A mercenary with stolen alien module, gets rescued by a freighter where he falls in love with the captain. The same captain who rescues him against the orders of her boss, his ex-wife. The one thing no one knew was that the stolen module is one of the most powerful teleportation device on the galaxy.

    What We Liked

The adventure of the underdogs in the galaxy is very appealing as it's not a theme many think of. This story does not involve anyone crucial to the making or breaking of the galaxy. It's simply a story of mercenaries in space where they try to avert a critical situation that concerns their own environment. The message of good versus evil was very prominent and the journey to the win was rewarding in the end.

Space Truckers feels like it would be great as a TV movie. CW or FX would be good networks to produce a movie like that. The story touches on different topics such as divorce, cheating, giving love another chance, and redemption. Other than the story and characters needing more detail and revision, it could be a TV success bringing in various types of audience.

Key points: Space fiction; Good vs. evil ; Story of redemption and Freedom; Medium to Low Budget; Love triumphs hate.

    Synopsis

Mike Colby is a mercenary who goes from job to job in order to survive. The story begins with him rescuing a young woman from an old and rickety warehouse where she was kidnapped for ransom. However, she later realizes that this was an inside job where her father hired someone to teach her a lesson. Barely escaping death, Zenith, the kidnapped young woman begins to appreciate Mike's help and efforts. With one thing absolute as his goal, he tries to get as many credits as possible to achieve it. His freedom. He works for his ex-wife, who is the CEO of Sysco Galactic Shipping, one of the big shipping conglomerates in the galaxy. The biggest problem his ex-wife, Gemini, is facing right now is another conglomerate taking over her company's clients and assets. And so, her main goal to stop that from happening. Ever since her business partner was killed, Gemini has had to manage the entire company by herself and keep it afloat. Pill-popping Gemini's biggest competition are Empire shipping, who have employed Scrat command ships to take over Gemini's base, Taurus. Gemini commands Mike to talk peace with the Scrat general, General Asher, so that he won't attack their base. While Mike converses with the General Asher, things get out of hand between Mike and Asher's right hand man, Carnak, and Mike ends up stealing a module from their space station. As Mike escapes, the Scrat command ships begin to attack his shuttle. His already rickety shuttle starts to fall apart right in front of his eyes, and so he sends a distress signal out for anyone to respond to.

As desperation seeps Mike's soul, a freighter returns his distress signal. But the rescue mission is called off by Gemini. Despite the order against rescuing Mike, Tisch Mallory, the captain of the freighter, decides to go ahead and rescue him, very well aware that she just disobeyed her own boss. When Mike gets rescued, Tisch and Mike immediately begin feeling a connection between each other. On the freighter, Blue Eagle, Mike also reunites with one of his old friends, Wilmer. Julian, Blue Eagle's navigator, and Tisch discuss Mike's presence and Julian mentions that Tisch should act on her feelings fast or else she will lose the opportunity. Tisch and Mike's miscommunication throughout his stay on Blue Eagle starts to create problems within Tisch's crew and also with Gemini. Both women having bigger egos than men, end up in a scuffle over various pent up rage between one another just boiling to one big blow up. Tisch get jealous over Gemini's control on Mike, and her assumption that her father was assassinated by Gemini, who also happened to be Gemini's business partner, begins to cloud her judgement. After a tumultuous exchange between Tisch and Gemini, Tisch returns to her station and angrily discusses the situation with Mike, Wilmer, and Julian. In order to diffuse the situation, Mike gives Tisch some space, but Tisch takes it the wrong way as if he is not interested in her. Wilmer then later reveals to Tisch that Gemini is Mike's ex-wife, who cheated on him during their marriage. While this happens, Mike also reveals to the Blue Eagle crew that what he stole was a module from the Scrat spaceship. When inspected, Wilmer discovers that the module is one of the most powerful teleporting devices in this galaxy. If it falls in the wrong hands, hundreds of lives could be at risk. Gemini, anxious and curious to know what Mike stole, tries to seduce him into admitting what it was. However, Mike doesn't budge, which in return results in him being imprisoned by Gemini.

Gemini seeks vengeance for being rejected, by contacting the Scrat general and telling him to abduct Tisch, so that he can get Mike and his module back. General Asher then proceeds to interact with Blue Eagle pretending to come on board for weapons inspection when in reality they came to kidnap Tisch. In the meantime, Empire sends assassins to end Mike as later revealed that Julian has been informing them of everyone's whereabouts to save his own life. Julian feeling guilty of his actions, assists Wilmer in finding Mike and helping rescue Tisch. After rescuing Mike, the trio come up with a plan to kidnap Gemini and take her on board the Scrat vessel as negotiation tactic. As they board, Mike instructs Gemini to not handover the module to General Asher until he says so. Gemini the traitor that she is, hands it over to Asher before Mike's instructions. A huge explosion takes place inside the panel because the module handed over was a duplicate and fake designed by Wilmer as decoy. While the Scrat soldiers are injured, Mike, Tisch, and Gemini escape with the help of the real module back at Blue Eagle. After returning to Taurus, Gemini stays true to her word and grants Tisch the Blue Eagle as her own vessel, independent of jobs from Sysco. Julian becomes the operations executive for Sysco, and Mike becomes free of employment from Gemini as well. Gemini also tells Tisch that she revered her father a lot and learned a great deal from him. Leaving on good terms, Wilmer, Mike, and Tisch depart from Taurus with Blue Eagle, set course to their new adventure.
