Brought into being by a renegade scientist, Woody the Murderous Dummy is the ultimate in rage-fueled, revenge-happy doppelgängers: nourished by despair, yearning, and the shriveled shadows of our abandoned ambitions, he has come to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting inhabitants of Atomic City.

Short Summary

A brilliant scientist at Atomic City National Laboratory hunts through his house to preempt the murderous attack of the hate-filled sentient dummy his genius created. Meanwhile, the Cooper family watches the hit TV talent show America's Got Adequacy, and is inspired to become a ventriloquist troupe.

The Murderous Dummy has repurposed the mind-transference technology that brought him into being. His wicked "TED Talk" on the hit TV talent show, America's Got Adequacy, is interrupted by the Cooper family, who've come together with a repentant priest to halt his odious and demoniac ambitions.

Development Pitch

Atomic City Terror is a series that combines the disparate elements of television shows and movies that modern audiences crave. Horror, humor, science fiction, and empathetic characters in confrontation with topical modern issues and universal human stories. It reflects the anxieties of our age, and responds to these anxieties imaginatively, intelligently, and with a healthy dose of absurdist comedy. Set in a fictionalized version of Los Alamos, New Mexico (the titular Atomic City, home of the nuclear bomb and Manhattan Project), the first installment of the series - Curse of the Murderous Dummy - is an homage to Goosebumps, and a strong declaration in favor of the brilliant utility of humor and horror to effectively express the modern zeitgeist, its unique challenges, and its unprecedented angsts. Drawing on the traditions of science fiction, horror, humor, thrillers, and the complicated interwoven culture of New Mexico (European, Hispanic, Native American), Atomic City Terror is one hell of an entertaining ride, and culturally relevant to boot.

About The Author

Michael Ray Laemmle was born in the world-historical town of Los Alamos, New Mexico (the titular Atomic City). A singularly outlandish place, overflowed with macabre history and myth. After sojourns roundabout the globe, ever on the hunt for curious volumes of forgotten lore, Laemmle returned to his native land to take up his destined mantle as Atomic City's incumbent bard.
