Development Pitch
This novel was written in 1995, and set in 2020. I was at that time making medical training videos about HIV/AIDS. I had no idea how incredibly relevant my story would be 25 years after I wrote it. I believe the “answer” that Alice finds is important for us to know now. It’s not a drug or a substance that can be ingested. It’s something we can all use, without access to any special knowledge, medical experts or expensive drugs. I believe there is a reason why I set the book in 2020 – WE ARE HERE NOW! Alice travels from London, throughout Europe to places like Austria and Italy, then on to Borneo, Nepal, America and Australia. She meets a whole cast of fascinating characters, and goes on an inner voyage of self-discovery at the same time as her outer voyage. I believe an incredible movie could be made of this fascinating, mysterious and timely script - something similar to "Cloud Atlas", which travels in time and space and has an important message to share.
