Short Summary

In Thaer an important prisoner is being tortured by the main villain - this segues to earth where a man gets a phone call about the birth of a boy. The man hurries to the hospital to meet the parents and inspect the child. He finds the specific feature that marks him as "the one from without".

Julian and his allies are in mourning as they travel back to their home base. They arrive to find the hidden elf village burning and under attack. The village leader tries to save Julian by magically sending him back to earth but in the process an arrow hits Julian and we don't know if he makes it.

Development Pitch

Picture a young boy on his thirteenth birthday - his godfather shows up to his party and surprises him with unusual gifts: a bow and a quiver. He calls him a “special young man” and tells him he has a “destiny beyond your wildest dreams.” According to his godfather, Julian is part elf, a special hybrid that is the only of his kind; and his kind comes from another world called Thaer. On top of that, he's told he has a destiny to unify the race of elves - driven apart by political scandal into different factions, all in hiding, trusting none but their own - and restore their honor in time to stop the resurgence of an old evil threatening to plunge Thaer into a dystopia. Julian doesn’t believe any of this until an extraordinary event forces him to turn to his godfather for answers; answers that come in the form of more unusual gifts - a book and a necklace. The book tells him of his astonishing origins and the necklace transports him to Thaer; where he embarks on a difficult and dangerous mission. He meets a mysterious ally, joins a clan of elves, faces an impossible task and battles a powerful enemy. He does all of this and fails. People die. And it ends on a cliffhanger with us not knowing if he's dead or alive. This can be the start of a multi-film fantasy franchise with a bi-racial protagonist and a new twist on elves. Imagine Lord of the Rings meets Harry Potter with a bit of Game of Thrones-esque tragedy and the universe building potential of a Star Wars.

About The Author

LeVaughn Erskine is a Jamaican Fantasy Writer. Fascinated by the prospect of what happens when you upend normalcy and introduce the supernatural, he authored his first novel for the Young Adult Fantasy genre. Quest of the Elvan is meant to be the first novel of a multi-book, multi-format Legacy of Thaer universe propelled by a young, bi-racial protagonist. Themes of diversity, identity and destiny are put on new ground and travelled via unexpected roads. His eventual goal is what he calls "acronym status" - we have LOTR, we have GOT, how can we get to a level of fandom where we have TLOT?
