Development Pitch

At its heart, Western Song is a love story. The novel explores the journey of two most improbable lovers. Weston Beaudurant, a Wyoming Rancher and rodeo bull rider has had responsibility thrust upon him since his father died while he was still in high school. Taking care of everybody, his sister Olive and his mother, not to mention the ranch, Weston has had his share of the ladies, but at his heart, he's grown into a lone wolf. Losing his best friend Cody Goode to the raucous bull Baby Face he was riding has pitched him into deep sorrow and loneliness. The enchanting and lovely Song Phan Rang, to escape the poverty she grew up in in Thailand and in desperate search of this thing called freedom has crossed the seas to the promised land of America. She was to be Cody Goode's mail order bride. But on the day of her arrival, Weston's bull Baby Face gored Cody to death. However, once here, in America, in Wy-oh-ming, Song will not let go. Weston and Song are thrown together by their tragic circumstances, and the mixture is combustible. As Song learns the true meaning meaning of freedom, Weston discovers he has lost his heart.
