Setting

Briarwood Cove is a rural, northwestern Connecticut town (fictional) on the New York border, total population 2,000. The majority of people in town live close to vast Lake Tahaso, which stretches into New York. Prior to the 1600’s, Native American Indian tribes from both New York and Connecticut lived along the shores of the lake. The Indian population ultimately dissipated, and later troops (including George Washington, as per rumor) moved through the area during the American Revolution. Many of the homes in Briarwood Cove date back to the 1700’s. The introduction of electricity to the area in 1928 resulted in a population boom. A second wave of newcomers came to town in the 1950’s. Modern home developments are currently under construction on the hundreds of vast wooded acres surrounding town.
