Development Pitch
We’re Not The Millers is based on the characters and story from the movie The Millers. The story, We’re Not The Millers follows the adventures and mishaps of a group of four people who were originally thrust together in an attempt to smuggle drugs across the southern border of the U.S.A., and chronicles their life in witness protect, failed attempts on their lives, and their constant struggle trying to fit in wherever the government relocates them. We’re Not The Millers follows the four virtual family members as they try to live normal lives, but with Government agents overseeing their activities and criminal elements trying to locate and murder them before a trial can be held where the witness’s testimony could lead to lengthy prison terms for the drug smugglers. We are privileged to see inside their day-to-day lives and watch as they struggle to maintain their sanity while being told what they can and can’t do. The reader gets a front row seat to observe and appreciate the innovative solutions each family member comes up with in order to circumvent the rules and tortuous regulations of their caretakers, the U.S. Federal Agents assigned to guarantee the witness’s protection, at least until they are able to testify in court and put the drug dealers behind bars. The felons are imprisoned, orchestrate their escape from a federal penitentiary, run and hide to avoid capture, and are forced to decide to either risk their very lives or face a long and depressing life in prison.
