Development Pitch

This story would make a great miniseries offering action, adventure, a little romance, some humor, all wrapped around an intriguing plot sure to spur the interest of young adults, as well as the young-at-heart.

About The Author

I was the only female wrestler for two years on my high school's wrestling team and was nickname, "Barbie," and that's because I didn't look anything like a female wrestler, after becoming Miss Norfolk Virginia Teen. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Radford University, I had to supplement my income by becoming involved in wrestling as a coach for an all boys team. My book, Submit, is loosely based on my experience as a wrestler, and is my first novella.

Accuracy of Book Profile

Book Profile doesn't make it clear if the title of the book is Submit or And There Will Be Blood.

Draw of Story

Kat, the protagonist, is an interesting character as she is a young girl who is able to be both strong and self sufficient but there is also a vulnerable side to her.

Possible Drawbacks

The mystery involving the disappearance of TJ should be a big deal but doesn't seem to take enough importance on the narrative as the characters keep on with their normal lives. An FBI agent seducing a schoolgirl would also be difficult to adapt to audiovisual.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

I would watch this movie because the female protagonist is interesting and could be developed in deeper levels.

Fanbase Potential

This unusual teenage female protagonist could have a large fanbase if adapted.

Awards Potential

It could have Awards potential if adapted as it would require a highly flexible actress to play the protagonist's role.

What’s New About the Story

The most original thing about this story is that it is a mix between a high school romcom and a mystery involving the disappearance of a boy and an FBI investigation which turns out to uncover wrongdoings of powerful men. The investigation, however, could be developed more carefully in order to level up the narrative.

Lead Characters

Kat, the protagonist, is a girl with the appearance of an angel but who is mature and independent, and there is also an aggressive side to her, which makes her a dubious and interesting character.

Uniqueness of Story

The story could be developed deeper in order to build a structure in which all layers are taken into consideration proportionately. The book would profit greatly if the author provided more substance to the investigation, which is the most original bit however seems to be used more as a background to the high school narrative.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

The narrative has potential to be developed in terms of narrative and character arches, especially regarding the layers involving Mr. Miller and the missing TJ.
