Short Summary

A couple driving along a rain-slick I-49. A rainbow. A crash. Beth then wakens in the ICU with no memory of herself. Darren stays with her in the hospital and tells her about her past and her suicide attempts. He takes her home and she begins to piece together her life. She's confused.

Beth reenacts the crash site and is able to remember what happened. She is able to release the part of the other victim's spirit/soul that has been trapped inside of Beth since the crash. Once she remembers the crash, she still doesn't remember her own life, except for Darren. Happy Ending.

Development Pitch

IMPACT would make a great romantic drama. It has all the elements of a love story: Intimacy, sexual tension, things that must be overcome that seem insurmountable. There is a touch of the supernatural with a bit of the victim from the crash being held in Beth's mind. This is a story of redemption. Although Beth has a horrific past (promiscuous, suicide attempts, abortion) she has a new start. Her choices are clear. Darren is an example of unconditional love, patience, and perseverance. The crash sequences and reoccurring memories/dreams are action-packed and suspenseful. They would hold the audience riveted to their seats wanting to watch and turn away at the same time. Strong male roles give a balance to the romance side, too. Darren is a gifted special education teacher and his quirky students add humor, too. Their insights and observations keep Darren grounded and focused. There is a happy ending which is a requirement. Darren and Beth end up together and a promising future. Sadie is the nurse from the hospital and Marcus is her son who was the officer that pulled Beth from the crash. They are both humorous and strong individuals. IMPACT has been described as a page-turner by everyone who has read it. Once they begin it, they can't put it down. Several readers have recommended that it be made into a movie or mini-series. Please consider it. You will not be disappointed in the story. Set in Lafayette, LA, it has a bit of local flare, but could be set in most any city.

About The Author

Kelda shares her south Louisiana home with her husband, their four children and four wacky dogs. With a passion for education and young people, both young in age and young at heart, she has homeschooled her four children through graduation and has tutored students for over a decade. In addition, Kelda holds a BA in elementary education and an MA in counseling. Her fictional writing began in 2016 while facilitating a novel writing class with her students. This is her first published work of fiction. She self-published two non-fiction works: Call Their Hearts Home and TWPH-Insights into Living with Teens. When she’s not writing, she’s watching movies, listening to audiobooks, knitting, quilting, or crocheting, all the while, playing great music in the background like a soundtrack. Writing is a compulsion that occurs amid the chaos of life and dogs and constant interruptions. She believes life is full of opportunities to love. Be embraced.
