Development Pitch

This is an American story. A story about the definitive American topic that has affected all Americans, regardless of race, color, gender. Gun violence. THE ASSAULTED combines details from 24 actual mass shootings with fictional physical and mental victims, each character woven into real life moments and events. From Columbine comes a secret online community, "The Assaulted," a source of hope, comfort, rage release for mass shooting victims. From Antioch comes the MC, Don Quixote meets Walter White. He loses his wife to the business end of an AR-15. He’s broken. Angry. He receives an invitation to join The Assaulted, and with the assistance of a "mother figure" on the site, a fictional survivor of the actual Naval Yards shooting, recruits people like him. From Aurora, Las Vegas, Charleston, Orlando, Virginia Tech, Parkland, Sandy Hook. They led normal, productive lives before their world collapsed. Their senseless heartbreak transforms them into tortured “Damaged Goods,” capable of unleashing the same violence on strangers they experienced themselves. It’s the ultimate revenge. Buy a bus, recruit these tortured Assaulted members, then assault the N.R.A. Building in Fairfax, Virginia. The hoped-for result. Common sense gun laws. The understood result? A violent death. The story encompasses our nation and has affected us all. A story is too big to be presented in a book. This is a story that needs, deserves the treatment only a motion picture or TV mini-series can provide.
