Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes - perhaps mention some of the romance that takes place. It's not central but romance broadens the overall demographics of moviegoers.

Draw of Story

The premise. I like the paradigm of "what would you do if the apocalypse were all but certain?"

Possible Drawbacks

Nothing made me put the book down. However, I did kinda feel like a female protagonist would have been better than a male. Maybe it's just because most YA SCi-Fi films I've seen have female leads.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

Can a group of young outcasts still coming of age save the world from certain doom?

Fanbase Potential

Yes. YA films of this nature do very well. It has all the elements of a successful "overcoming all odds" journey of discovery that young adults like while also attracting Sci-Fi fans in general.

Awards Potential

Maybe in special effects.

Envisioned Budget

MEDIUM BUDGET

What’s New About the Story

Usually in YA stories the young protagonists are primarily trying to save themselves. In this one they have an even bigger responsibility - to save humanity. My only change would be to make the protagonist female.

Lead Characters

Their view of the world they live in makes them unique. They are outcasts who don't believe in the status quo.

Uniqueness of Story

It's not necessarily a "rare gem" but for a formulaic genre script it has a lot of potential.

Analyst Recommendation

RECOMMEND

Justification

This has a good foundation for a successful Young Adult (YA) film. With a decent screenplay and central characters that are both talented and attractive, this could succeed quite well.
