Development Pitch

An inside story about the everyday lives of missionaries in the United States is compelling enough because of the endless dramatic elements that come with the lifestyle. My story adds much more than this as it includes a realization that mission leaders are fallible, struggles with adapting to a foreign country's norms, and experiencing a confusing manic episode that made me fight for an early release. It is a coming of age story where after the protagonist finally grows to have confidence his newfound mental illness takes everything away. This could work well as either a film or TV adaptation. For TV there are so many conflicts that arise with each new city and new colleague I was assigned to. Each new assignment has a story of its own while building toward the main event of the manic episode and fighting to come home. The elements of this story are compelling as there are many relate able themes while also being in a mostly unfamiliar setting.
