Short Summary

This is the type of story that has something for everyone. It's about a young boy, turning slowly into a young man and then into an adult. But it's about more than just the happily ever after that you normally see in these coming of age stories.

Later in the week, I found myself researching breast cancer. My stomach clenched as I realized that the last impression my mother had of me was of a drug-addicted, unemployed loser—an underachiever, an embarrassment, a source of grief to her. I’m a pathetic, selfish embarrassment, I thought.

Development Pitch

My dream has and will continue to be to turn Logan Michaels into a symbol. Being just another true story is not enough these days, we need to open the eyes of readers by capturing emotions. Today's generation only cares about entertainment which is fine, so bring Logan to the big screen. Logan Michaels is every adolescent kid in today;s generation that has a strong good heart but no role model or guidance. People turn their heads when they see troubled kids instead of seeing what the root cause was. I'm not trying to save the world nor is Logan Michaels, but Logan took his life into his own hands and made his own decisions with or without a role model which left him on this crazy journey. This adventure could have been stopped if his parents just told him, "hey it's ok i'm here for you". Logan Michaels fears the unknown, fears going back to his miseable life, but more important he fears letting society get the best of him. Every adolescent needs to understand we can mess up our future very quickly, but getting our future back is possible, but a far tough lonely road. Logan Michaels is myself, James Roberts. Today i am a successful sales director who will always have Logan in me, he molded me into myself today.

About The Author

James M. Roberts wanted to prove that you don't need to be a college scholar or a perfect writer to put your heart on paper even when it is hurting the most. James's experiences have inspired him to tell his story in order to reach young readers suffering from insecurity, sadness, and addiction. Not only did James drop out of high school, but he also stumbled into deep depression early in his adolescent life. Although he had been an all-star athlete, he was far from happy. He ended up making regrettable choices in order to feel a sense of belonging and worth, especially following his parents' separation. Through it all, James knew that one day he was going to share his "misery" with the world. He struggled through life's lessons and finally put himself through college to earn a business degree and currently has a successful career in sales. James finished his first rough draft at twenty-five while in college. Five years later he erased all 200,000 words and started from scratch. He currently resides in Woburn, Massachusetts, where he continues to thrive and develop his writing. "Don't judge me based on my past errors; judge me based on my growth from them."-James Roberts
