Accuracy of Book Profile

The book profile does mention different parts in the book however it mainly focuses on the ending of the story with the company trust unraveling when most of the narrative is about Scott becoming a hitman and before he ended up in jail rather than after. By mentioning the focus on Scott's journey rather than post-jail, the profile would better reflect the focus of the narrative.

Draw of Story

Scott is in jail for killing his wife which he doesn't remember. Although there is probable cause in that he kills people for a living there is a mystery there as well as what is so important about the murder he is asked to do that after a decade his company figures out how to get him free if he executes the mission correctly.

Possible Drawbacks

The structure of flashbacks from the jail cell undermines some of the tension as to how much danger Scott narrating about his past could really be in given that he is narrating about the past and thus survived. By altering the structure to show the slow progression in untrustworthiness of the company where Scott is already working for them, the tension might better be retained and the pacing may pick up a bit.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Scott is in jail for killing his wife but he has to kill the President Kennedy to get out of jail.

Fanbase Potential

As alternative history this may have a smaller fan-base whoever as an action film this could have a medium sized audience.

Awards Potential

Because of its action genre this is unlikely to win serious prestige awards but may garner popular awards depending on the structure retaining tension and maximizing emotional investment.

What’s New About the Story

The originality stems from Scott having to return to his old ways that got him into jail in order to get him out of jail. He is being lied to about his objective which does not align with his inner conflict and by showing he being tricked more consistently and earlier, the tension will build.

Lead Characters

Scott is loyal and a family man but able to think for himself with good street smarts and logic to defy corruption. Paul is also talented but corrupted and greedy. Sage is wise and compassionate.

Uniqueness of Story

There is an overarching main conflict that is relatable about how blindly trusting authority can be problematic, but the dual storyline of reminiscing about his past and Scott taking on the new mission aren't totally connected outside of being framed for his wife's murder.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

Making Scott's inner conflict more consistently developed throughout the story would help create a rising tension about his objective that drives the earlier parts before the distrust is established. This may also help make the reminiscing of Scott's origins into the company add more tension because of the framing and assassination request outcome.
