A frustrated car salesman goes on a serial killing spree targeting annoying customers who won't buy. The killer is chased by an Asian-American detective and his savant-like former police partner. Told from the POV of both the killer and the detective.

Short Summary

We see the killer drop groceries into the laps of an Asian couple in their store before executing them. The scene changes to the detective at another crime scene where a convenience store clerk has been shot and has a lemon crushed into his face.

The detective and his savant-like sidekick have finally figured out that the bizarre uses of food at the crime scenes was a false lead and that the killer is a car salesman. The killer, sensing the cops closing in, decides to target the detectives directly where he tortures one and is killed.

Development Pitch

A psychotic young man takes the frustrations of his life out on the world in his first sense of true power. Shamus Ryan is a car salesman who can’t take no for an answer and winds up stalking and killing annoying customers who waste his time. In the small town-like city of Wilmington, Delaware, the variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds of the victims leave police clueless until they bring in a former NYPD detective, Paul Chang, now with the Delaware State police. The hero, Chang, is the son of Chinese parents but he grew up in America. Neither accepted as real Chinese nor wholly American, he was raised in New Yok’s Chinatown and exists as an outsider in both worlds. He tries to deal with stereotypes and prejudice with humor but underneath stress and guilt have given rise to an aggressive persona he calls the Dragon. Usually he can keep the Dragon at bay but at times when he sees dangerous injustice he becomes more vigilante than cop. He took his sidekick Nelson Rogers under his wing in New York where they were both detectives. Rogers is frail and unimposing but has a savant-like ability to read people and get inside the minds of criminals. After a nervous breakdown ended his police career, Nelson followed Chang to Delaware where he works in the IT department. The story is told through both Shamus and Chang’s point of view. It is more of a HowTheyGonnaCatchHim than a Whodunnit. As the two get close, Shamus tries to turn the tables and target the detectives.
